Cliff diving ends in fatality

LAKE HAVASU – A cliff diving fatality is reported on the Colorado River. Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said a Havasu Lake, California man went missing early Thursday afternoon after a 30-foot leap from a cliff near the “Sandbar” north of Lake Havasu.

Mortensen said divers located and recovered the body of the apparent drowning victim at 4:09 p.m., about three hours after the fatal jump. The victim is identified as Dane Jay shields, 28.
