Reclamation lowers Lake Mohave water level to aid with annual razorback sucker harvest

 The Bureau of Reclamation is currently lowering water levels in Lake Mohave to aid in harvesting razorback suckers from lakeside rearing ponds. The fish is an endangered species native to the Colorado River. The drawdown is part of annual river operations which are timed to coincide with conservation activities for the fish. Lake Mohave will steadily lower from its current elevation of 642 feet above mean sea level (msl) to an elevation of about 637 feet msl by the week of September 30 and remain at approximately the same elevation for the following few weeks. Off-duty officer spots ongoing drug deal

KINGMAN – An observant off-duty officer is credited with spotting a suspected drug deal going down in a commercial parking lot and calling it in Tuesday, Sept. 3. Kingman Police Department officers responded at 9:15 a.m. to the 3400 block of Stockton Hill Road where they attempted to make contact with a man in a parked car. Deputy Police Chief Rusty Cooper said the subject later identified as Andrew Rivas, 32, Kingman, drove off and into the thoroughfare before he quickly became involved in heavy traffic at Airway Avenue where he crashed into a stopped vehicle. Zoning Ordinance Update Community Workshop set

KINGMAN – Lisa Wise Consulting, Inc. (LWC) has been selected by the City of Kingman to review, evaluate, provide recommendations, and update the city’s Zoning Ordinance. The estimated schedule assumes this work will be completed by December 2020. City staff has been working with LWC since early July 2019 on the initial stakeholder interviews and initial audit of the current Zoning Ordinance with recommendations for the updated Zoning Ordinance. No injuries in residential house fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY – At approximately 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, Lake Havasu City fire crews were called to investigate a strong smell of smoke in the 2700 block of Diablo Drive. Citizens reported a burning smell in the area. A crew from Fire Station 1 investigated and found smoke coming from a small single-story house. One ladder truck, three fire engines, and a battalion chief responded to the fire and gained control within 45 minutes. There were no occupants at the time of the fire.
