Pratt ordered to three years for drug binge

KINGMAN – A three-year prison term was ordered Monday for a Bullhead City man who was found slumped over in a vehicle during a drug binge. Christopher Pratt, 25, was discovered unresponsive in a running vehicle on Riviera Boulevard on July 3. Officers reportedly found about three grams of methamphetamine in the vehicle along with usable quantities of heroin and marijuana, as well as some drug paraphernalia. Pratt pleaded guilty to an attempted sale of dangerous drug charge in exchange for dismissal of other drug related counts. County procurement earns prestigious award

MOHAVE COUNTY – The National Procurement Institute has presented Mohave County with the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award. Procurement Director Becky O’Brien led a presentation during the Sept. 16 Board of Supervisors meeting. “This is the 14th time that Mohave County has earned this award. The AEP award is earned by public and non-profit organizations that demonstrate excellence by attaining a high application score based on standardized criteria,” O’Brien said. “The application process is rigorous and requires comprehensive documentation in 18 categories.” O’Brien told supervisors that only 11 other organizations in Arizona and a total of 42 counties…

KINGMAN – Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG) is offering a free Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health First Aid for Older Adults training course on Tuesday, Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, 600 E. Beale St. Mental Health First Aid is a free eight-hour course that teaches how to help someone who is developing a mental health issue or experiencing a mental health crisis. Rollover claims life of Kingman man

KINGMAN – A Kingman man died Wednesday following a September 15 traffic accident in Bullhead City. Police department spokeswoman Emily Fromelt identified the man who died of his injuries at University Medical Center in Las Vegas as Jamie Joseph Barr, 35. Fromelt said police responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident at 1:20 a.m. at Highway 68 and McCormick Boulevard. She said Barr was westbound on the highway when he lost control and was ejected when the vehicle rolled at the bottom of a dirt embankment. A medical helicopter flew Barr to Las Vegas.
