Postponed. Or, just flat-out scrubbed. Looking back, 2020 will go down as the year in which our daily lives were turned on their ears, not so much remembered for what we did but what we couldn’t do. Fortunately, hunting memories are waiting to be made when the 2020 dove season opens Sept. 1. It will still be important to remain physically distant from other groups, or persons not in your same party or household, of course, but Arizona’s dove hunters are strongly encouraged to stay socially connected…

Drug courier takes prison deal

BULLHEAD CITY – A drug mule from Bullhead City pleaded guilty and went straight to jail Tuesday, willfully skipping the 30-day period that usually elapses before sentencing. Amanda Boone, 37, told Mohave County judge Doug Camacho she prefers to start serving time to get it over with as soon as possible. Judge Camacho imposed the five-year prison term mandated in the plea agreement. Several charges in two criminal cases were dismissed in exchange for Boone’s conviction on a transportation of danger drugs for sale charge. Unrelated assaults keep officers busy

A Fort Mohave man’s assault of a woman and a California man’s unrelated attack of a detention officer are detailed in a Thursday news release from the Mohave County Sheriff’s office. Lynn Dr., at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.  “Multiple reporting parties advised that neighbors were outside yelling and fighting,” Mortensen said. Shuttered enterprises could re-open next Thursday

MOHAVE COUNTY – Businesses in Mohave County still shuttered due to the coronavirus could be allowed to re-open next Thursday, September 3. That was one of the highlights of Thursday’s Mohave County Board of Supervisors COVID-19 management meeting. Department of Public Health Director Denise Burley and local state representative Leo Biasiucci told the Board that the county has enjoyed one week in the “moderate” category for rate of case positivity. One week more in that same range, under 10%, is required for the county to reach the benchmark where gyms, restaurants and some other closed enterprises can reopen under modified…

G&F deliver water to catchments for wildlife

Water is the essence of life, and it’s just as precious for Arizona’s wildlife. For that reason, the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD) has trucked and airlifted about 250,000 gallons of life-sustaining water to catchments throughout the state since January. Trail cameras document the results of this critical work, with footage of elk, deer, bighorn sheep and other species leaning over for a refreshing drink at one of 3,000 catchments maintained by AZGFD. “Water catchments don’t discriminate; they’re used by all wildlife from big game to some of the smallest squirrels, lizards, birds, bats and even bees,” said Joseph…
