Repurposing is the new black

MOHAVE COUNTY – “Repurposing” is the newest frontier in landfill diversion and sustainability.  

So, what are some examples of “repurposing?”  It is taking a byproduct or waste stream such as a retired street sweeper brush and giving it a second life as a backscratcher for horses or cattle. It is taking a decommissioned fire hose and giving it an extended life as a boat dock fender. It is taking an obsolete ski lift cable and giving it a second life as hand railing in a luxury condo building.

Housing event offers free assistance

KINGMAN – WACOG will host a housing programs event on Thursday, Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Mohave County Community Services Mezanine Room, 700 W. Beale St.

BCFD receives two major grants for new firefighting equipment

BULLHEAD CITY – The Bullhead City Fire Department (BCFD) has announced that it has been awarded two significant grants. These grants will enhance our department’s capabilities to better serve the community.

The first grant, funded through Senate Bill 1720 (SB 1720) and provided by the Department of Forestry and Fire Management (DFFM), will contribute $125,000 towards the purchase of a new Type 6 engine. This new engine will complement BCFD’s existing Type 6 engine, allowing for improved response times and greater fire suppression capabilities in difficult-to-reach areas.
