Officer and vehicles struck in wild chase

KINGMAN – A vehicle struck a law enforcement officer and two patrol vehicles were struck but no injuries were reported during a wild chase that ended in Kingman Monday afternoon. Mohave County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 1:39 p.m. to conduct a welfare check after a citizen reported spotting a male in a vehicle parked two days off Interstate 40, about 27 miles west of Kingman. “The reporting party advised she had observed several empty prescription bottles inside the car and the male subject was hiding under a blanket,” said sheriff’s office spokeswoman Anita Mortensen. KINGMAN – A convicted sex offender from Bullhead City who is already serving more than a century long prison term was given more time behind bars during a Friday sentencing hearing in Kingman. Michael Barrett was previously convicted of ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor for cell phone possession of images  of children engaged in various acts of pornography. 7.5 million people visited LMNRA in 2019

Lake Mead National Recreation Area welcomed 7.5 million recreation visitors to the park in 2019. It is the sixth most visited park in the entire National Park Service. An additional 7.6 million visitors traveled along main state highways and interstates in the park, including I-11. The park saw spikes in visitation at its Henderson, North Las Vegas, Overton and Bullhead City entry points, as well as an increase in visitation at Hemenway Harbor near Boulder City.
