Dear Editor, The LMRFD is supported by a few thousand taxpayers in Dolan Springs and Meadview. Its two-personnel cover fire and EMS service for a 3300 sq. mi. area, including 100+ miles of State Hwy and county roads servicing traffic to the Grand Canyon Skywalk. Taxpayers are frequently left with no fire or EMS coverage while their ambulance runs calls on Highway 93. It is essential that the LMRFD include volunteers on its roster for any hope of fire or EMS service for those who foot the bill! There must be funding included for volunteer training/support. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead and allow extra travel time for overnight pavement repairs on Interstate 40 and US 93 in Mohave County. QUARTZSITE –The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Yuma Field Office invites the public to provide input on a Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) remediation project at the abandoned Moon Mountain Mill site, located on BLM-managed public land near Quartzsite in La Paz County. The mill processed ore from area mines for about four decades, from approximately 1860 until 1900. Operation of the mill began again in 1989 and ceased permanently four years later in 1992. MOHAVE COUNTY – Late Tuesday afternoon, the Mohave County Health Department (MCDPH) Nursing staff was notified of 48 new COVID-19 confirmed cases. There is also one death, a 70-79 year age person in the Bullhead City service area, a previously reported case. Twenty three of the new confirmed cases are in the Lake Havasu City service area.
