Addressing the destruction of America

Dear Editor, I realize this is conservative territory, but if my liberal (not communistic, there is a difference) slanted letters are causing those on the right to question policies on both sides of the aisle, then this fulfills my intention and should be viewed as a good thing. However, my greatest realization and concern for America is the fact that one person, back by millions, almost brought about the demise of our great democracy. Not only that, but handed China and Russia the gift of knowing just how fragile our democracy actually is. I want to thank The Standard for…

Unforgiveness

The other week it was windy and cold outside. As the wind got stronger, I noticed off in the distance that the sky grew darker from the sand and debris the wind was kicking up. I will not remember. In a year from now, I will not remember. Even though many looked forward to the day, prepared for parties, entertained guests, and wore garments only suitable for the event, I will not remember much about the recent Super Bowl between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams. In fact, I probably will not be able to recall who played in the game, what the commercials were trying to sell or who was on-stage at the halftime show. In fact, I have little memory of last year’s game or the countless others before it. This…

Commentary on Mohave County group homes: Part 2 of 2

Dear Editor, Life has been tough for us in the group homes, but I’m happy to say our prayers have been answered. We’re extremely excited that our quality of life is much better thanks to a few dedicated people. The woman who runs our group home in Golden Valley has always strived to make us residents as comfortable as possible. She has continually dedicated herself to taking care of us, ensuring we have a clean, dry place to live, and enough food so we have full stomachs. There isn’t anything worse than going to bed hungry. Another thing she and…
