KINGMAN – The purpose of the Rotary Educational Micro Grant is to afford K-12 teachers, in the greater Kingman area, the opportunity to apply for a one time educational grant for up to $1500.00 this year. The Educational Micro Grant is designed to support teachers in the creation and development of innovative and dynamic opportunities designed to enrich the lives of students as a direct result of this funding opportunity. LAKE HAVASU CITY – This month Kiwanis International is offering more ways to give back with their 10th Annual 5 Iron Tournament. In 1915, Kiwanis International was formed in Detroit Michigan. Their original title was Supreme Lodge Benevolent Order of Brothers. In the following year, the organization changed their name to Kiwanis. Kiwanis is a Native American term “Nuc Kee-Wanis” meaning, (we trade). In that same year, the club had become an international group when they made their debut in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Lake Havasu Home & Garden Expo will be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22 and 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Lake Havasu Aquatic Center, 100 Park Ave. Admission and parking are free. There will be live cooking demonstrations, a free tree giveaway for Unisource customers (while supplies last), and free prizes throughout each day.
LAKE HAVASU CITY – Great news for animal lovers. The Western Arizona Humane Society’s annual fundraising dinner party took place on Saturday, September 9. At the London Bridge Convention Center, the kickoff event was in support of Lake Havasu’s Duck Derby Race scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 23. It was a 1980s themed event complete with costumes, music, and raffle drawings all to help injured and homeless animals of Lake Havasu and Mohave County.
