LAKE HAVASU CITY – An armed robber reportedly tossed currency out the window as he led a police pursuit in Lake Havasu City. Police Sergeant Kyle Ridgway said Tony Crawford, 40, Lake Havasu, committed two armed robberies minutes apart on Monday, Aug. 5.

Ridgway said the first armed robbery was reported at 5:00 p.m. at a convenience market in the 1500 block of Palo Verde Boulevard South and the second at a restaurant in the 700 block of Lake Havasu Avenue.

“An officer observed the suspect vehicle, and a vehicle pursuit ensued,” Ridgway said. “The suspect was observed throwing money out of the window of the vehicle.”

Ridgway said Crawford pulled over in the 3000 block of Mescalero Drive and taken into custody with assistance provided by Mohave County Sheriff’s Office deputies. Crawford was booked into the Adult Detention Facility for two counts each of armed robbery and disorderly conduct with a weapon, four aggravated assault charges, unlawful flight and prohibited possession of a weapon.

Ridgway said investigation continues as well as calculations of money both stolen and recovered.
