LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu’s annual Desert Storm celebration made a splash last week with excursions around the lake, street parties, poker runs, shootouts, and the fun seemed never ending for boat enthusiast everywhere. This was the 26th annual occasion for one of the largest boating performance events in the west coast. The action began on Wednesday, April 24 through Saturday, April 27.

Wednesday was all about Krusin’ 4 A Kause at Windsor 4 where high performance boat owners give special needs individuals scenic boat tours around the lake. Thursday brought about the infamous street party on main on McCulloch Blvd. The streets were packed with super charged racing vessels from top notch custom boat builders. The multi-million dollar presentation was a free street display with various food and drink vendors. Friday was the chance to see outstanding powersports cruising through the Bridgewater Channel for the poker run. Spectator boats were along the mile-long channel and plenty of vendors along the way on the beach. First responders joined in the show for the Parade of Power where boats traveled from Thompson Bay through the Bridgewater Channel under the London Bridge. The journey also included Kicker Boom Toon and a Condor Squadron, a vintage WW II military aircraft to kick off that poker run.

The celebrations ended on Saturday for the Shugrue’s Shootout at Site 6. Participants competed the high one-mile closed course for the king or queen desert title. What will they come up with next year? Stayed tuned!
