A Kingman man admits wearing body armor while committing armed robberies, kidnappings and assaults during business invasions last year. An assortment of 47 charges are dismissed in the plea agreement entered Monday that aims to resolve ten indicted cases.
Francis Allison, 59, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault for a January 1, 2018 incident in Valle Vista, north of Kingman. Prosecutor Rod Albright said Allison and co-defendant Anthony Axton, 32, Kingman, were armed when they entered the back door of a business about closing time and directed two female employees to hand over cash before they were zip tied to a table.
Allison also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for the June 3, 2018 armed robbery involving an employee at a gas station off SR 68 in Golden Valley. The deal will also convict him of aggravated assault and armed robbery for a July 1, 2018 robbery of the Dollar General at 3665 Andy Devine Avenue in Kingman.
Authorities allege Axton opened fire on officers when he Allison tried to flee as police arrived at the discount store. Axton suffered a gunshot wound to the face, but survived.
Defense attorney Randal Craig told Judge Billy Sipe Monday that Allison was not involved in the shootout. No officers were injured.
Allison faces a 21-28 year prison term at a June 6 sentencing hearing should Judge Sipe approve the deal. Charges are still pending against Axton and another codefendant, Preston Milks, 25, who are in custody and awaiting trial.
