Four-year-old Havasu boy allegedly molested

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Authorities allege a four-year-old Lake Havasu City boy was molested by a teenager who was on Christmas leave from basic training from a U.S. Army base in South Carolina. An investigation began Jan. 1 when the victim’s parents contacted police.

Police reports said that Joshua Sword was visiting the victim’s parents when the boy’s father used his fingernail to unlock a bedroom door on Dec. 26, 2018. The man reportedly discovered his partially undressed son in the room while 19-year-old Joshua Sword ran to a closet.

Police reports indicated that Sword told the father that his son’s pants were down because he had wet himself. The boy told investigators that Sword touched him inappropriately.

A review of the case investigation prompted a Jan. 28 decision by Deputy Mohave County Attorney Megan McCoy. She authorized a child molestation charge for Sword who awaits trial while held in the Adult Detention Center on a $500,000 bond.
