A stabbing in Bullhead City last spring is being resolved through a plea agreement. Michael Scott Boyea, 35, Bullhead City, pled guilty Wednesday, March 6, to an attempted first degree murder charge.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Jaimye Ashley said the attack occurred after Boyea arrived at a friend’s home at 821 Glen Drive on May 21, 2018. “He walked behind the victim and stabbed the victim in the neck and back approximately five times,” Ashley said.
Bullhead City police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said the stabbing victim had been involved in a dispute with a mutual friend who was not present during the violence. Boyea fled the scene of the stabbing and the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Boyea remained a fugitive until police responded to a report of a suicidal subject on Aug. 4. Fromelt said police captured Boyea in the back yard after he fled from the rear of a residence in the 1900 block of Morning Glory Trail.
Fromelt said Boyea was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a self-inflicted slashing wound to his neck.
Aggravated assault charges are dismissed in the plea agreement. Boyea faces punishment ranging from supervised probation up to seven years in prison when sentenced April 4 by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle.
