ARC’s 2nd Annual Autism Fair a success

KINGMAN, Ariz. – ARC of Mohave County hosted their 2nd Annual Autism Fair Friday, Oct. 23, at the Mohave County Fairgrounds. Many businesses and organizations participated and filled all three buildings, offering support for parents of autistic and special needs children. There were adaptive, interactive games, cotton candy, baked goods and food trucks. Beautiful baskets were raffled off.

Prizes were raffled off. This autographed football was won by Suellen Stewart from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Reach Out Facility. Connie “Ceejay” Jones

Proceeds benefited ARC’s vital works programs that provide services, initiatives and disability awareness for those with special needs in the Kingman area.

ARC board president Marta Brotherton wanted to make sure parents had as much information as possible about autism as she has a 41-year-old son who is autistic.

“When he was diagnosed, we had no information,” Brotherton said. “There was just none available. It is very important for me to see that families get the support and information they need and to have a little fun, or a lot of fun.”

The Center for Social Dynamics brought sensory sand for kids to play with. Several baskets and other gifts were raffled off. The fair grows every year, Brotherton said, because everyone who hears about it wants to support it.

Everything was free, including vendor booths. For more information, call ARC at 928-757-4858.
