Mohave College men’s soccer hosts Eastern Arizona, Yavapai

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave College men’s soccer team continued conference play with a pair of home matches against Eastern Arizona College and Yavapai College.

Mohave faced Eastern Arizona College Sept. 30, with the Bighorns losing 3-1. Vicente Villalobos, midfielder, opened the scoring in the 14th minute to give Mohave a 1-0 lead. Alan Salgado, forward, also saw action for the Bighorns as Mohave carried a 1-0 lead into halftime. Eastern Arizona responded with three goals in the second half for the 3-1 final score.

Mohave returned home Oct. 3 to face Yavapai College, with the Bighorns taking another first-half lead. Pablo Pulido, forward, scored in the 35th minute to put Mohave ahead 1-0 at halftime.

Yavapai scored twice early in the second half before Luigi Ankrom, forward, tied the match 2-2 in the 84th minute off an assist from Alan Salgado, forward. Yavapai responded with goals in the 87th and 89th minutes for a 4-2 final score.

Mohave recorded 13 shots against Yavapai, including five on goal. Alan Salgado, forward, led the Bighorns with four shots and two shots on goal while also recording the assist. Pablo Pulido, forward, finished with two shots on goal, and Luigi Ankrom, forward, added one shot on goal.
