LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City drug case is being resolved in a plea agreement entered at the Mohave County Law and Justice Center in Kingman. Steven Swaim, 68, pleaded guilty to possession of narcotic drugs for sale during a Sept. 2 hearing before Mohave County Superior Court judge Derek Carlisle.
Investigation of suspected drug sale activity prompted a May 20 traffic stop in Lake Havasu City. Swaim was arrested when officers found almost 15 grams of cocaine in his vehicle.
A subsequent search of Swaim’s home in the in the 4100 block of Calimesa Drive produced additional seizures.
“Investigators located approximately one-quarter pound of cocaine, three firearms, a usable amount of psilocybin mushrooms and drug paraphernalia consistent with the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics,” said police sergeant Kyle Ridgway. About $1,000 in cash was seized as well.
Terms of the plea deal require forfeiture of the weapons and cash. Swaim is eligible for probation but could get up to five years in prison when sentenced Oct. 2.
