BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. – The Arizona Department of Housing concluded the 2026 Arizona Housing which provided more than 500 affordable housing attendees a platform to learn and collaborate on the best strategies and tactics to improve housing and community development in Arizona.
On the final day of the annual Forum, the state presented the 2026 Housing Hero Awards, which are named in honor of the late Brian Mickelsen, an original member of the Arizona Housing Finance Authority and the City Manager for the Town of Cottonwood. Among the awards recognized for outstanding achievements was the Bullhead Regional Food Bank Expansion, which won the CDBG Development of the Year award.
The City of Bullhead City is recognized for expanding its food distribution facility with a 4,000-square foot warehouse plus site access improvements creating greater storage capacity to better serve the nutritional needs of low-income residents. The expansion enabled higher volume deliveries of food and increased the number of people served each week from 300 to 1,200.
