KINGMAN – A Lake Havasu City man will get a 2.5-year prison sentence under terms of a plea agreement entered June 3. Stephen Panter, 40, pleaded guilty to crimes committed against separate victims five days apart.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Tonda Hill told Judge Billy Sipe that Panter was visiting on April 5 when he was told he could not spend the night at a residence at 2247 Seabring Ct. She said the victim suffered facial fractures and lost a tooth when struck and kicked by Panter as an ensuing argument escalated.
“He swung at me first, but it is what it is,” Panter told the court.
Hill said Panter sent a second victim text messages on April 10, although she had an order of protection prohibiting communication from him.
“Yeah, that happened,” Panter acknowledged. He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and aggravated harassment.
It’s expected that the stipulated 36-month prison term will be imposed during a July 10 sentencing hearing.
