LAKE HAVASU CITY – A recent infraction-related traffic stop near the Interstate 40, Highway 95 interchange outside Lake Havasu City produced drug seizures and the arrests of a local couple. Police placed Casey Pepper, 38, under arrest after the 2023 Toyota 4-Runner he was driving was pulled over at the Pilot gas station about 9:30 p.m. on May 20.
A police report indicated that officers recognized Pepper and knew that he was driving on a suspended license and was wanted in two different arrest warrants.
A search was conducted after a police canine alerted to the presence of drugs during an open-air sniff of the vehicle.
The police report said nearly 19 grams of fentanyl were found in a baggie on the center console of the vehicle. Almost two grams of methamphetamine were reportedly located in a baggie in a back pack placed in the truck.
Passenger Leslie Talbert, 40, reportedly told police that she and Pepper had traveled to Indio, California together before the interview was terminated when she asked for a lawyer. The couple was jailed for transportation of narcotic drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and other charges.
