Free electronic and household hazardous waste recycling event in April

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Republic Services, in partnership with Lake Havasu City, offers a free residential Electronic and Household Hazardous Waste Recycling event on Saturday, April 18, from 8 a.m. to noon. The event takes place at Fire Station 2, located at 2065 Kiowa Boulevard North, with public access at College Drive. Signs are posted in the vicinity to assist residents with drop-off.

The event is open only to Lake Havasu City residents and provides a safe, convenient way to dispose of a wide range of household-generated hazardous waste and unwanted electronic devices. Improper disposal of these items, such as pouring them down the drain, onto the ground, or into sewers, can pollute the environment and pose a threat to public health.

No commercial or industrial waste will be accepted. Residents must bring identification with a Lake Havasu City address or a recent billing statement showing subscription to trash service within Lake Havasu City.

Accepted at this event: Paint (maximum 15 gallons, consolidated into five or six gallon buckets if possible), including oil and latex paints, stains, varnishes, solvents, thinners, and adhesives; Automotive parts and fluids (maximum 30 gallons of fluid), including motor oil, filters, antifreeze, car batteries, gasoline, tires (maximum of four, off rim only), oily water, oily rags and debris, and oily dirt; Other chemicals such as flammable liquids and aerosol cans (no pesticides); Fluorescent tubes (not broken), bulbs, and other mercury-containing lamps (not broken); Household batteries including AA, AAA, C, D, button, and lithium; and Electronic waste (maximum of three items), including televisions, computers, monitors, DVD players, CPUs, hard drives, VCRs, fax machines, laptops, microwaves, printers, computer mouse, shredders, telephones, radios, and cables or cords.

Not accepted at this event: pesticides, poisons, corrosives, medical or biohazardous or infectious waste, broken lights, construction debris, industrial adhesives, pharmaceuticals, explosives, compressed gas cylinders (except propane), and radioactive materials.

The City encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity to properly dispose of hazardous and electronic waste from their homes. For additional details, please contact Republic Services at (928) 505-7410 or the Lake Havasu City Fire Department at (928) 855-1141.
