KINGMAN – Experience a bold reimagining of chamber music as Astral Mixtape takes the stage at the Beale Street Theater on Saturday, April 4, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35, $25 and $15.
Blending classical virtuosity with electronics, Astral Mixtape creates music that is deeply personal, captivating, and unmistakably original.
With an unconventional lineup of two violins, cello, and keyboards/electronics, the ensemble reshapes the traditional chamber music format for the 21st century. Their performances blur the lines between composer, arranger, and performer, weaving together the exuberance of pop, the improvisational spirit of jazz, and the adventurous edge of contemporary music into a sound entirely their own.
Astral Mixtape’s creative reach extends well beyond the concert hall. The group has composed and recorded original scores for several acclaimed short films showcased at major international festivals, including Cannes and BAFTA. Their collaborative work with filmmakers, visual artists, and electronic producers has resulted in a wide range of multimedia projects, from music videos and animations to innovative remixes.
In 2021, Astral Mixtape released Astral Plains, a visual album created in partnership with the Santa Monica College Film Department and supported by the Banff Centre. The project exemplifies the ensemble’s cross-disciplinary approach and commitment to collaboration across artistic mediums.
Audiences can expect an immersive, forward-thinking performance that challenges expectations and invites listeners into a richly textured musical world. For information call 928-530-8432 or go to bealestreettheater.com.
