Havasu man faces probation or prison for breaking into a garage

KINGMAN — A transient arrested after breaking into a garage in Lake Havasu City faces probation or prison after entering a plea agreement during a November 4 hearing in Kingman. Jeremy Anderson, 28, is convicted of a charge reduced to attempted burglary.

Tampering with evidence, criminal impersonation and criminal damage charges are dismissed.

Deputy Mohave County attorney Marcie Mininberg provided a factual basis for the conviction that closely paralelled the police report narrative. Both indicated that the homeowner was out of town and called police at 1:20 a.m. on September 6 to report her video surveillance system showed a man wearing a headlamp enter the backyard of her home at 475 Highland Drive.

Mininberg told Mohave County Superior Court judge Lee Jantzen that arriving officers spotted what appeared to be flashlight movement within the garage. She said it appeared that the suspect damaged a rear door to gain access to the garage and that tools commonly used in burglaries were located on scene.

Police established a perimeter around the property and arrested Anderson when he exited the garage. He reportedly provided his brother’s name and birthdate when asked to identify himself.

Anderson is eligible for probation but could also be sent to prison for up to 2.5-years during a December 1 sentencing hearing.
