Havasu woman enters plea agreement for fraud and theft

LAKE HAVASU — A Lake Havasu City woman intends to enter a plea agreement to resolve criminal charges for stealing from an elderly man she was care taking. 43-year-old Francine Hernandez is charged with fraud and theft.

Lake Havasu City police allege the victim who provided power of attorney authority to Hernandez discovered purchases from his account that he did not authorize, and that funds had been diverted to her bank account. Police estimated the loss to be about $10,000.

A plea agreement was scheduled to be entered Tuesday. Attorneys, however, informed the Court that they would like to provide more time for Hernandez to generate revenue to pay restitution to the victim.

Judge Doug Camacho approved the attorney requests for postponement. He schedule a change of plea hearing for August 12.
