Bighorn Soccer programs excel on and off the field this spring

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Mohave Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams delivered an positive performance during the Spring 2025 semester both in competition and in the classroom.

Demonstrating the true meaning of “student-athlete,” the two programs combined for an impressive 3.24 overall GPA. The women’s soccer team led the way with a 3.43 team GPA, including 12 players earning a 3.0 or higher, and two student-athletes achieving a perfect 4.0. The men’s soccer team was a 3.05 GPA, with eight players posting GPAs of 3.0 or above and two reaching a 4.0.

“We’re incredibly proud of our student-athletes,” said Camilo Valencia, MCC Athletics Director and Head Men’s Soccer Coach. “Their commitment in the classroom reflects the character we’re building here at Mohave.”

Coach Valencia also gave recognition to the academic success team led by Emily Auman and Denielle Percifull, for their role in supporting the students in their achievements. He emphasized that academic excellence has always been a pillar of the athletic department’s vision.

“As we set the foundation for Mohave Athletics, we’re making it clear that success off the field is just as important as winning championships,” he said. “The 2025 spring GPAs are setting a high standard for future Bighorns and show our community the type of culture, our coaching staff is building here in Bullhead City.”

As the Bighorn soccer teams turn their focus to the upcoming fall season, excitement is building on campus and in the community. Fans can expect high-energy matches, continued leadership from returning student-athletes, and a relentless drive to raise the bar even higher on the field and in the classroom.

The season kicks off with the first home game on Aug. 26, when the men’s and women’s teams take on Community Christian at Firebird Field, Rotary Park, 2315 Balboa Dr., Bullhead City, AZ. The 2025 season promises to be one to watch as the Bighorns continue to build a legacy of pride, performance, and purpose.
