It’s not as great as being employed

Dear Editor,
I wish that others could live on a fixed income as I am living now. To all those who think it’s great to live on SSI, you are only fooling yourself.
I am lucky enough to get the bills paid, but it isn’t enough to pay for the necessary things such as property tax and assessment taxes. The only thing I am able to get are shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant. Do you think I’m living good now?
I had six years being self-employed as a parking lot cleanup and I have seven years as a block watch, and one and one-half years as airport checkpoint security. But yet in Arizona I can’t get hired due to my medical problems.
But yet I’m expected to deal with it and live on SSI. I feel cheated because I would rather work and be able to retain my dignity and pride.
