KINGMAN – The third annual Tomato Quest Festival will be held at Locomotive Park on Beale Street in Kingman on October 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This family friendly event offers live entertainment, informative educational booths, food trucks, and games for kids, as well as some news additions to the festival.

Trophies are awarded in contests for Best Tasting Tomato, Best Tomato Cultivar and People’s Choice. Local Gardeners can visit the Tomato Talk Table to discuss tips and techniques for growing tomatoes in Mohave County and pickup free seed from some of the cultivars that have been identified as well suited to our climate. They are encouraged to sign up as a test grower and try new cultivars in their gardens next year.

New to the festival this year is the Salsa Contest hosted by the Cooperative Extension AZ Health Zone.  Salsa cooks are encouraged to enter by contacting the Extension Office at (928)753-3788, or email Bree at daugherty@arizona.edu.  The contest will be held at the Extension Office on Beale St from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Everyone is encouraged to come and vote for their favorite salsa.

The festival is hosted by the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners and is free and open to the public. For more information contact Nancy at (307)247-4823.
