KINGMAN – The man who admitted killing his wife in Kingman while traveling to California will likely stand trial. Public defender Paul Amann, during an Oct. 3 status conference, informed the court that the state has made no plea agreement offer in the case against Anthony Goodin, 59.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Eric Nolan told Judge Doug Camacho that his office has no intention of offering a deal to resolve the case.
“In that case your Honor, we can go ahead and set this for trial,” Amann said.
Judge Camacho scheduled an Oct. 17 hearing for attorneys and the court to establish a date when Goodin’s trial shall begin next year.
Though he admitted using a machete to maim and murder his wife Lynda Goodin, 53, in the Kingman Walmart parking lot on July 12, Mr. Goodin previously pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.
Goodin told Kingman police that his wife was being a witch and that “the wicked must be put to death.” Amann has argued that his client’s Biblical and religious fixation has made communication and legal representation a challenge.
