ARIZONA STRIP – Crews are battling a wildfire on the Arizona Strip in north Mohave County. The Bureau of Land Management said a 1 p.m. Monday lightning strike sparked the Cox Pond Fire.

It has covered about 150 acres in the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, about 30 miles south of St. George, UT. The fire is reportedly burning heavy brush in a remote area with limited access.

No structures were threatened, and the fire was 0% contained as of Tuesday morning, Aug. 6.
