Overnight lane restrictions on I-40/US 93 scheduled July 10 & July 11 near Kingman

Year-long closure of Clack Canyon Road begins July 16

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers that construction crews will be placing temporary traffic-control barriers on US 93 west of Kingman during the week of July 8, as work gets underway on the new I-40/US 93 West Kingman Traffic Interchange project.

The following overnight restrictions will be in place on Wednesday, July 10, and Thursday, July 11, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • US 93 southbound: A right-lane closure will be in place to allow crews to safely place traffic-control barriers roughly between Coyote Pass to Fort Beale Road (mileposts 69 to 70).
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

Clack Canyon Road in Mohave County and Kingman will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, July 16:

  • The road closure will be in place for approximately one year.
  • The closure is needed so crews can construct the new I-40 westbound and southeast bridges, spanning over Clack Canyon Road.
  • Clack Canyon Road will be open to local residents only.

Construction on the new free-flowing interchange project will be underway for approximately 2.5 years. The new interchange will:

  • Address existing traffic backups and delays on I-40 and US 93.
  • Relieve traffic congestion on Beale Street.
  • Improve travel between I-40 and US 93.
  • Accommodate projected traffic volumes for the next 20 years.
