Children fire victims identified

BULLHEAD CITY – Authorities have released the names of the five children who died in a Dec. 16 house fire in Bullhead City. Police spokeswoman Emily Fromelt said the victims of the fire that destroyed a duplex on Anna Circle were positively identified by the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Siblings killed in the fire were Elias Jones, 2, Freya Jones, 4, Zane Jones, 5 and John Jones, 13. Their 11-year-old cousin Henry Lewis also perished in the blaze.

Fromelt said the father of the four siblings went grocery and Christmas gift shopping about 2.5-hours before the 4:54 p.m. fire. She said investigation determined that the fire started in the foyer area of the first floor before flames worked their way up the staircase to a second story bedroom where the bodies of each of the victims was recovered.

“The cause of the fire is still undetermined,” Fromel said. “The fire debris analysis being conducted in an ATF lab by chemists and electrical engineers could take months.”
