MEC offers $5,000 school grant for renewable energy curriculum

BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave Electric Cooperative continues its support of education by announcing the $5,000 School Grant for renewable energy curriculum for 2021 / 2022 academic school year.

Submittals are now being accepted for the grant from teachers and schools in MEC’s service territory until the August 20, 2021 deadline. One grant will be awarded.

The grant application is simple. Submit a short, written description of the lesson plan that teaches about renewable energy and include materials and a cost breakdown. There is no formal application, so please submit your writeup to Mohave Electric Cooperative, Attention: Steve Bouman, PO Box 22530, Bullhead City, AZ 86439 or email MECPA@mohaveelectric.com.

“This grant provides an opportunity for teachers to be creative while encouraging education about renewable energy and effective use of energy resources,” said Allison Ellingson, MEC Manager of Public Affairs and Regulatory Compliance.

The grant is one of several programs funded by MEC’s Renewable Energy Standard and Tariff surcharge mandated by the Arizona Corporation Commission.
