LAUGHLIN/BULLHEAD CITY – Clark County, Nevada has awarded a $54-million contract to a Henderson-based firm to build a second Colorado River bridge connecting Laughlin and Bullhead City. Fisher Sand and Gravel will have two years to complete the project once an official notice to proceed is issued.
“The contract calls for construction of a five-span, 724-foot-long concrete bridge over the Colorado River,” manager Toby Cotter said during the May 4 Bullhead City council meeting. Bullhead City is contributing $4.5-million for bridge construction and spent another $4-million on connective infrastructure on the Arizona side of the span.
Cotter said advancing the project after years of effort is a testament to perseverance and partnership.
“I give a lot of credit to our city council and to our staff. We never gave up. We never stopped working on that bridge project,” Cotter said. “And, quite frankly, Clark County deserves a lot of credit because they never stopped working on it either.”
Cotter said construction activity should be highly visible this fall with completion estimated for late 2023.
