Welty takes prison plea for sexual activity with minor

FT. MOHAVE – A Fort Mohave man has entered a mandatory prison plea agreement for sexual activity involving a young girl. Timothy Welty, 45, pleaded guilty to three offenses during a November 26 hearing in Kingman.

The victim reportedly called the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office in late August, alleging Welty showed her pornography and engaged in assortment of sexual activity at a residence in the 2400 block of E. Gosuiet Road.

Welty is convicted of sexual conduct with a minor and two charges reduced to attempted sexual conduct with a minor for crimes that occurred during a two-year period ending December 31, 2022. The victim was reportedly 14 and 15 years old during that period.

Terms of the deal require Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen to impose a 15- to 20-year prison term at a December 30 sentencing hearing. Welty was directed to comply with sex offender registration protocols while serving lifetime probation upon his release from prison.
