WAVE CTED Governing Board Vacancy in Colorado River Area

BULLHEAD CITY  – The Western Arizona Vocational Educational (WAVE) District provides high quality career and technical education to high school students.   The District is overseen by a seven-member board with two representatives each from Lake Havasu City, Bullhead City/Mohave Valley and Kingman and one from Parker.    The WAVE Governing Board currently has two vacancies in the Bullhead City/Mohave Valley area.  The Board is seeking interested candidates for the position.  The candidate chosen will serve on the Board until the next General Election and then follow election procedures if they wish to continue.  Candidates must reside within the Colorado River Union High School District boundaries to be eligible to serve. This can be confirmed by calling the Mohave County Voter Registration (928)753-0701 or Elections Department (928)753-0733.

Those interested in applying will be committing themselves to at least one meeting a month.  The meetings are the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. and rotate to each city (Kingman, Bullhead City, Lake Havasu and Parker). To apply, submit a letter of interest and a resume by November 27th, 2023 to:  WAVE, Attn: Amy West, Superintendent, PO Box 69, Kingman, AZ 86402 or send via email to: awest@wavejted.org. If you have any questions, please call: 928-753-0747. The WAVE Governing Board will review and interview applicants before making a recommendation. Position open until filled.

In November, 2008 the voters of LaPaz and Mohave voted to form a CTED, and it became an official district on July 1, 2009.  By combining enrollment numbers, efforts, and expenditures, a CTED can offer students more opportunities and better-funded programs. There is also a partnership with local community colleges and a utilization of shared spaces, equipment, staff and facilities. Students receive instruction from highly qualified staff members who are often workplace specialists. In pursuing specialized work certificates and training, the students are then able to graduate with marketable workforce skills and are career or college ready.

The Western Arizona Vocational Education District, collaborating with business and community, provides students’ academic, career, and technical preparation for a global, competitive marketplace.  Some of the programs offered through CTED are: culinary arts, HVAC and welding, nursing, criminal justice, automotive, business, graphic design, and hospitality.
