LAKE HAVASU CITY – It was just two weeks ago when the Western Arizona Humane Society (WAHS) hosted their yearly famous Duck Derby Races at the English Village under the  London Bridge.  Just last weekend, the pet nonprofit continued their duck derby fundraising for animals in need of homes at their annual dinner party.

The humane society’s It’s Five O Clock Somewhere gathering took place on Friday, October 25tand the London Bridge’s Resort’s Convention Center at 5 p.m.

For over 45 years, the pet nonprofit has continuously provided homes to animals in need. The organization provides care to the pets prior to placements. Their team also has other veterinary resources like vaccinations, spays, neutering, and much more.

Last Friday the Jimmy Buffett themed occasion kicked off when doors opened for attendees to enjoy cash bar beverages and drinks.  50/50 raffle tickets were available for purchase for a chance to win some pretty enticing prizes.  Attendees indulged in delicious buffet style appetizers served on the convention center’s outdoor patio.

The evening would not have been complete without music from tribute band, “The Jimmy’s Buffet” who performed songs from the legendary musician such as Margaritaville, One Particular Harbor, Volcano, and several other famous tunes.  Attendees formed congo lines and danced the night away at this festive occasion.

This was a ticketed event at $125 per person. All proceeds went back to WAHS so that they can continue to carry out their mission in providing the much-needed services to animals.

WAHS is always in need of volunteers so anyone interested can call them directly at 928-855-5083. When you volunteer at WAHS, you have an opportunity to join in on the fun too. WAHS always has ongoing creative fundraisers to ensure that they can continue to provide homes for animals without shelter.
