Volunteers sought for county committees

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County District 5 is looking for volunteers to serve. Volunteers must reside in District 5 (North Lake Havasu, Desert Hills, Havasu Heights, Yucca, Topock, Golden Shores, Mohave Valley or Fort Mohave). Library District Citizens’ Advisory Committee

This group meets quarterly and rotates between the county libraries.

The objective is to develop the Mohave County Library District in a manner that fully provides information resources that are relevant, accessible, and responsive to the interests and intellectual needs of the citizens of Mohave County.

Self-Insurance Retention/Employee Benefit Trust (SIR/EBT)

This group meets twice a year, or as needed, at the Board of Supervisors auditorium in Kingman.

SIR – Providing for the establishment of self-insured retention programs and provide for the authorization for the management, funding and administration of the fund for the direct payment of benefits, losses or claims or any combination of insurance and direct payments.

EBT – Providing for the establishment of a trust fund to provide benefits for, but not limited or restricted to Basic or Major Medical coverages for accidents or sicknesses, Life, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, and any other benefits as determined by the Trustees for employees and their dependent families.

Merit Commission

This group meets on an “as-needed” basis, usually 1 to 2 times per year, at the Board of Supervisors auditorium in Kingman.

This commission is charged with representing the public interest in the improvement of personnel administration in the county service. The Commission adopts new rules, amends existing rules, recommends preparation of policies and procedures, and serves as an independent personnel board for the County. As regulated by Arizona State Statute, this volunteer must be a registered voter who is not a Republican.

Economic Development Board

This group meets quarterly and rotates meeting locations between Lake Havasu, Kingman, Bullhead City and Parker.

The goal is matching the needs of local employers with employees in the area to provide employment at a sustainable wage in the growth sectors of the local economy.
