LAKE HAVASU CITY – Lake Havasu’s London Bridge Resort has all sorts of unique ongoing events and activities scheduled to kick up for the fall season. The resort holds classes where people can make their own custom western styled hat, take a tour bus to the Oatman, or simply attend their weekly tea parties.

The resort held their first Afternoon Tea party of the month on Wednesday, September 11 at 3 p.m. inside the venue’s Sunset Room. Hosted by the resort’s own “Director of Fun” Joelle Dickinson, attendees learned about the history of tea throughout cultures beginning with Chinese Emperor and Herbalist Shennong, who is regarded as the very first person to consume tea in 2737 BC.

While serving a variety of distinctive teas, the class covered some of the key facts about how tea farms were most commonly located in China, and the differences between England tea drinking ways versus Asian tea drinking styles. Dickinson also shared other fun historical facts about how the first tea arrived in England, who started the afternoon tea drinking societies, and some secrets about tea drinking etiquette. Pinky’s up by the way, is a sign of a tea drinker that is arrogant while keeping your pinky down while sipping, is considered to be the most respectable way to consume the hot beverage.

The vintage styled gathering wouldn’t be complete without delicious scones served with clotted cream spread, finger sandwiches, cookies, and biscuits.

Everything is supplied with traditional tea sets donated by Havasu locals who wished to have their pre-owned tea sets utilized for something useful; like the resort’s weekly afternoon tea parties. The class also includes a presentation about the history of the London Bridge.

This elegant occasion takes place each Wednesday and it is required to reserve your spot in advance to ensure that you don’t miss out on this memorable experience. You can book for just $20 by calling the London Bridge Resort  directly at 928-855-0888.

No need to be a guest at the resort to attend, the classes are also open to the residents of Lake Havasu, as well as visitors. Enchant your Wednesday by making a visit to the London Bridge’s afternoon tea events.
