Two-story home destroyed in blaze

KINGMAN – An early Thursday fire destroyed an unoccupied, two story residence in downtown Kingman. Public Information Officer Oscar Lopez said Kingman Fire Department personnel responded at 1:11 a.m. to the incident in the 600 block of South Fourth Street.

“First arriving fire personnel found heavy fire and smoke exiting the structure,” Lopez said. “Crews were able to conduct a primary all clear on the first floor, but were forced to evacuate as the structure was deemed unsafe.”

Lopez said utility workers handled some electric lines that were inhibiting firefighting operations. The blaze was brought under control in about an hour.

Lopez said there were no injuries, the home was a total loss and that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
