Two magic words, part one

Dear Editor,

Taking the words with a grain of salt when it comes to Trump and his administration saying, “It’s for ‘national security’ reasons.” Claiming everything is a national security. Including the recent killing of a mother and devoted Christian and a poet and writer. Shot in the face by an ICE agent. Not once, not twice, but three times.

Claiming it was in self-defense. Regardless of how one sees it, it did not justify her being shot to death. Nor for just driving down the street in the peaceful neighborhood where she lived. Peaceful until ICE showed up.

Where she lost her life minutes after dropping her six-year-old son off at school with the family dog in the back seat where her son just got out. Her last words to the agent that show and killed her, she smiled at him (as if trying to deescalate his aggression) and said, “I’m not mad at you.”

And after he put three bullets in her face and called her a deplorable name he quickly walked off in a huff, leaving the crime scene. As if it was his arrogance and ego that was more of the problem than any bodily harm done to him. While she laid in a pool of blood. The agents that stayed denied her immediate medical assistance (!?!).

When a neighborhood doctor pleaded to help her, he was told, “No. I don’t care if you’re a doctor.” And while an ambulance arrived minutes later, they couldn’t get through because ICE blocked off the road. Another crime in itself. But if that wasn’t enough drama for them, they drove to a nearby high school, pepper spraying teachers and students and parents picking up their kids. As if they were the recipients of their anger and pumped-up adrenaline from the horrific scene they just left.

Homeland Security once a trusted agency has morphed into a ruthless and lawless agency terrorizing and endangering communities. However one tries to justify what ICE is doing their violent assaults and kills are growing at an alarming rate with President Trump’s encouragement. But then he did say, “I can shoot anyone I want and no one would care.”

Now he says it’s all for a ‘good cause.’ For our ‘national security.’ (!?!)

The same reason he and his administration justify invading sovereign countries. The question is why is ICE harassing those living in peaceful neighborhoods? Or why when no one’s threatening to go to war with us why are we? It’s been said, ‘the worst thing than having to go to war with your allies at your side is going to war alone.’

And allies are losing their trust in the U.S. and we’re losing trust in our public safety with our government. All because of Trump’s misuse with just those ‘two magic words.’ National Security.

The White House is even saying it’s for national security reasons they’re demanding (or else there will be consequences) if states refuse to turn over our private data to Trump! Our driver’s license and social security numbers, where we live and what political party we’re affiliated with.

Why? When most of us aren’t a threat to anyone. Especially why do they need to know what political party we’re with or who we vote for.

It’s nobody’s business. It’s a violation of our privacy. And like Big Brother is watching will there be consequences for who we vote for and they party we’re registered with?? Like so many other things national security is becoming used as an excuse to take control of other countries to rob them of their sovereignty and national resources and to take control of us and to rob us of our freedoms and privacy rights.

Controlling whomever and whatever they can. All in the name of those ‘two magic words.’ National security.
