MOHAVE COUNTY — More than 800 vehicles carrying thousands of friends will be joining the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona on May 2, 3, 4 for the Fun Run. Historic Route 66 Fun Run participants from across the globe will meet in Seligman to travel a 140-mile stretch of Route 66 and conclude in Topock and Golden Shores.
The Fun Run is a three-day event that has activities occurring all along the route. A car show will happen in Seligman on Friday, followed by the first leg of the Fun Run on Saturday, which goes from Seligman to Kingman. The second leg of the Fun Run, from Kingman to Topack will happen on Sunday.
The origins of the Fun Run date back to 1988, when the Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona decided to celebrate after getting the state of Arizona to officially recognize Route 66 as a historic highway. Over the years, the Fun Run has also served as a fundraiser for the Historic Route 66 Association, which assists in the preservation, protection, and promotion of the highway.
Registration for the Fun Run begins in Seligman on Friday at noon at St Francis Catholic Church, located at 22440 Schoeny Ave. Registration in Kingman begins on Saturday morning at 8 a.m. at Rickety Cricket on Beale St.
