These terms apply to The Standard mobile app and to this website. By using either, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
What it costs
The Standard app is free to download and use. If we add paid features in future, the price and what it includes will be shown clearly before you are charged. Print subscriptions are sold separately and are governed by the terms shown at the time of purchase.
Our content belongs to us
The stories, photographs, e-Editions, logos and design in the app and on this website are the property of The Standard or the people we license them from, and are protected by copyright. You may read them, and share links to them, for your own personal use. You may not republish, resell, redistribute, or use our reporting or photographs commercially without our written permission.
Advertising
The app and the website carry advertising from local businesses. Advertisements are labelled as advertisements. We are not responsible for the goods, services, or claims of the businesses that advertise with us, and selecting an advertisement takes you to that business’s own website.
Accuracy
We work to report accurately, but the app and website are provided as-is. News develops, and stories are sometimes corrected or updated. We do not warrant that everything is complete, current, or free of error. Nothing published by The Standard is legal, financial, or medical advice.
Legal and public notices
Legal and public notices are published as submitted by the filing party. The official record is the notice as published in the printed edition of The Standard. If the app or website differs from the printed edition, the printed edition governs.
Obituaries
Obituaries are published as submitted by families and funeral homes. Please contact us if you find an error in one and we will correct it.
Availability
We aim to keep the app and website working, but cannot guarantee they will always be available or uninterrupted. Access depends on your internet connection and on services we do not control.
