KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Lake Havasu City teenager charged in a deadly alcohol-involved, vehicle-pedestrian collision is going to the Arizona Department of Corrections. A plea agreement for Acadia Frye, 19, was entered July 31 at the Mohave County Law and Justice Center in Kingman.
Frye pleaded guilty to felony manslaughter and aggravated assault charges, and a misdemeanor driving while under the influence count.
A vehicle operated by Frye struck pedestrians from Canada on Feb. 15 at 1360 Lake Havasu Avenue North, according to the Lake Havasu City Police Department. Julie Becker, 55, died of her injuries while Barry Becker, 67, was critically injured, but survived.
Deputy Mohave County attorney Melinda Bonson said Frye’s blood alcohol content was measured at 1.66, more than twice the legal limit for driving a vehicle. She said Frye also had marijuana in her blood stream.
Terms of the deal require Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derek Carlisle to order a 7- to 10.5-year prison term at an Oct. 1 sentencing hearing. Frye will serve probation once she is released from prison.
