Comparing apples to oranges

Dear Editor,

Just like Donald J. Trump, my Father’s brother was clipped in the ear by a Japanese sniper during WWII. Miracles are all around us with the known and unknown, and some make good with those miracles and some don’t, and Trump didn’t. He said his brush with death made him a changed man.

He said he was going to play nice and reunite the country. But instead, he went right back to his hate rhetoric and divisiveness. Just another promise of his that hit the dust.

Wake up, America

Dear Editor,

Hamas executed seven hostages because they knew Israel’s IDF was coming to rescue them. Shooting someone in the back of the head at close range is an execution. Why then are people all over the world blaming Israel for everything?

It is Israel’s fault because Hamas will not negotiate a peace. Why would Hamas negotiate a peace when the whole world is backing them on their massacre of the Jews/Israelis on October 7 as well as blaming the Jews/Israelis for being massacred.

If you’re a Trump supporter, Kennedy’s exit is likely good news, but future rogue third-party hopefuls remain capable of complicating both Democratic and Republican plans. If Harris-Walz wins in November but struggles

Commentary on Johnson letter

Dear Editor,

I could not agree more with Mr. Michael Johnson‘s piece in last week’s Standard more. I too am thankful and have thanked the City Council and have walked the street during the Beale Street rebuild to personally thank all those amazingly hard-working construction people who worked so tirelessly to get our new downtown put together.

Voting matters – now, more than ever

Dear Editor,

I have always been a music fan, especially live music, and I recall a particularly frigid night in January ’82 when friends and I loaded into cars and headed for the Meadowlands to see The Kinks (a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame “British invasion” band).  To escape the cold parking lot, we went inside to watch the opening band. Halfway through the set we realized, “This guy isn’t bad.”
