Suspect dies after OIS in Kingman

KINGMAN – On Saturday afternoon, May 2, Mohave County Sheriff deputies responded to a business in the 6000 block of Minerva Ln., east of Kingman in response to a call of an erratic driver that had damaged a gas pump at the business. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the suspect. When advised he was under arrest, the suspect produced a weapon, which led to an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS). The suspect was later pronounced deceased on scene.

No law enforcement personnel were injured during this incident. A records check later revealed the suspect had an active arrest warrant out of New Mexico. The investigation into the OIS is being conducted by the Kingman Police Department, which is standard procedure. The deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave. This investigation is ongoing.
