Summer Reading Program starts this weekend in Kingman

The following summer reading programs will be offered at the Mohave County Library Kingman branch, beginning Saturday, May 25.

Summer Reading Kickoff for ages five to 12

Saturday, May 25, 11:00 a.m. Children ages five to 12 and their families. Drop in anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and help to celebrate the launch of Summer Reading. 

Storytime for ages 0 to four

Wednesdays, May 29 through July 10, 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. 

Children ages 0-4 and their caregivers. Bring your child for stories, songs and other activities which will help develop early literacy skills and nurture a love of reading.

Astronaut Party for ages five through seven

Fridays, May 31 through July 12, 10:30 a.m. T minus 3, 2, 1, Blast off! Discover what it takes to become an astronaut and listen to stories read by an actual astronaut from the International Space Station.

Dance Party ages five to seven

Fridays, May 31 through July 12, 11:00 a.m. Suggested for children ages 5-7; all ages welcome. Calling all kids, come and dance with us!

After Hours Cosplay Social

Saturday, June 1, 5:30 p.m. Teens ages 13-18. Join us dressed as your favorite fictional character at our second annual Cosplay Social! Enjoy a night of fun, music and trivia. There will also be a popular vote costume contest for those who would like to take part. Trivia Questions will include the following fandoms: Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball and Futurama

Space Discovery!

Tuesdays, June 4 through July 2, 2:00 p.m. Children ages seven to12 and their caregivers. Each week explore new out of this world activities and astronomical art projects at several super space stations.

Friday, June 7, 2:00 p.m. Teens ages 13-18. Battle it out to see who’s the best at our Super Smash Bros. tournament! You must sign in by 2:10 pm to be eligible to play.

Make-It! Light-up Lightsaber!

Saturdays, June 15 and June 22, 2:00 p.m. Teens ages 13-18. Become a Jedi Knight and make your own full-size light-up lightsaber. Construct your blade on June 15th and return on June 22nd to create your hilt (attendance at both programs required).

Tuesday, July 9, 2:00 p.m. Children ages 5-12 and their families. Do YOU have what it takes to fly the best paper airplane?  Show off your paper airplane skills in a variety of events from longest hang time, farthest throw, aerobatics and more! Make your own paper airplanes or choose from our premade models. 

Make-It! LED Constellations & Galaxy Wall Art! Saturday, July 13, 2:00 p.m. Teens ages 13-18. Journey under the stars, paint a galaxy, explore constellations and use conductive tape, LEDs, and a battery to make your own night sky.
