Strahl named as new Mohave County Manager

MOHAVE COUNTY – David Strahl has accepted an employment offer to serve as Mohave County Manager. Supervisor Ron Gould and Human Resources Director Juliana Demers confirmed the Illinois resident accepted the position on Feb. 6, the day the employment offer was set to expire.

Gould said the county did not honor Strahl’s request for 5% deferred annual compensation. Demers said that Strahl will initially be paid $195,000 in annual salary, the midpoint between the county’s original offer of $180,000 and his initial counteroffer of $210,000.

Demers said March 16 is the tentative start date for Strahl. He was the county’s second choice for the position after contract negotiations failed to result in the hiring of the first manager selection, Brenton Davis of Pennsylvania.

Strahl’s arrival should result in the exit of retiring county manager Sam Elters by early to mid-April.
