Steven Andrew Lucero, age 72, passed away on December 28, 2025, at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, surrounded by his daughter, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren. Born on November 30, 1953, in Yuma, Arizona, to Manuel Trinidad Lucero and Ramona Zermeno, Steven lived a life defined by service, resilience, and deep devotion to his family.
Steven grew up in Yuma and was a proud graduate of Kofa High School, Class of 1973. During his time at Kofa, he met Laura C. Fox, who would later become his first wife. Their connection began in their hometown and continued as they built a life together after graduation.
Shortly after completing high school, Steven enlisted in the United States Air Force, beginning the journey that would shape the next two decades of his life. A proud veteran, he served as a Staff Sergeant (SSGT) in Civil Engineering, dedicating 20 honorable years to his country from 1973 to 1993. His work supported missions across the world, and during his younger years in the military — traveling from base to base with his family — Steven embraced adventure and the outdoors. He loved traveling, camping, boating, fishing, and spending evenings playing in league darts, creating cherished memories that his family still holds close.
In 1974, Steven married Laura C. Fox, and together they welcomed their daughter, Catherine, who remained the center of his world. The family traveled extensively during his Air Force career before Steven retired in Omaha, Nebraska. After his divorce, he began a new chapter as an over‑the‑road truck driver, working for multiple companies before settling in Kingman, Arizona, in 1997 with his second wife. Steven spent many years driving for Werner Enterprises, earning a reputation for reliability and dedication.
Following his second divorce, Steven found companionship again with Brenda Inks, whom he met while driving school buses. Their bond grew into a partnership built on shared work and shared miles. They married in 2016 and returned to trucking together, embracing the open road as a team. In November 2019, tragedy struck when Steven and Brenda were involved in a devastating car accident. Brenda lost her life, and Steven spent a month in the hospital undergoing surgery and rehabilitation. Though forever changed, he carried her memory with him and continued forward with the quiet determination that defined him.
Steven was blessed to become a grandfather for the first time in 1995, again in 1997, and in 2000. His grandchildren — Douglas Trinidad Lucero (spouse Samantha Ann Lucero), Jacob Andrew Lucero, and Celine Catherine Lucero‑White (partner Nicholas Alls) — brought him immense pride and joy. His legacy continued to grow with the arrival of his great‑grandchildren: Tristan Paul Lucero (2015) and Mylisa Catherine Lucero (2018), who lit up his later years with laughter and love.
In 2020, Steven’s life expanded in a way he never expected. Through Ancestry DNA, he was united with a son, Scott Campbell, and Scott’s wife April, of South Carolina. With them came three more grandchildren — Brianna, Nicholas, and Katherine Campbell — all of South Carolina. This unexpected connection brought Steven joy, pride, and a sense of completeness late in life, adding a new branch to his family tree that he embraced wholeheartedly.
Steven is survived by his daughter, Catherine Marie Lucero, and her spouse Noland White, of Kingman, Arizona; his son Scott Campbell and spouse April of South Carolina; his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren; his only surviving sibling his sister, Geralyn (Lucero) Carrillo, and her husband Jesse “Arnold” Carrillo; his aunts (his mother’s sisters); and a large extended family including many nieces, nephews, cousins, great‑nieces, great‑nephews, and countless loved ones whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Jacinta Lucero, Juanita (Apodaca) Lucero, and Frances “Chica” Zermeno and Ignacio “Blackie” Zermeno; his parents Manuel Trinidad Lucero and Ramona Zermeno; his brothers Lawrence Manuel Lucero and Manuel Trinidad Lucero (stillborn, 1950); and his beloved nephew Michael Lucero (Baby Michael).
Steven’s life was full — full of service, full of love, full of perseverance. He was a father who adored his children, a grandfather and great‑grandfather who cherished every moment with his growing family, and a man whose strength was felt more in his actions than his words. His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be deeply missed and forever honored.

Steven’s ashes, along with those of his late spouse Brenda Inks, will be interred together at Desert Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, located at 9250 S Ranchero Ln, Mohave Valley, AZ 86440.
