State Route 68 raised median construction in Golden Valley begins Aug. 16

Drivers should allow extra travel time and plan for delays
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for overnight lane restrictions and intermittent closures on State Route 68 in Golden Valley near Kingman  for the construction of a raised median between Bacobi and Verde roads, beginning Monday, Aug. 16. The project is scheduled to be completed in the fall. Work will begin at Bacobi Road. Project work restrictions will occur overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday evenings through Friday mornings. Drivers can expectIntermittent east- and westbound lane restrictions. At least one travel lane will remain open in each directionMotorists should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes. The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.Business access will be maintained at all times during construction.ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around personnel and equipment. The purpose of this project is to improve safety along the corridor by minimizing crossover crashes. The project includes constructing new Green T intersections at Marana, Mayer and Adobe roads. The design of these Green T intersections will have a dedicated left-turn bay for eastbound traffic on SR 68. Vehicles turning left from Marana, Mayer and Adobe roads will use a channelized receiving lane to accelerate and merge onto eastbound SR 68.Other intersections within the project limits will have left-turn access in both directions. For more information, visit azdot.gov/SR68VerdetoBacobi.
