Should basketball hoops be allowed on the street

Dear Editor,

If my son gets hurt playing basketball because I put the basketball hoop in the street, is the City of Kingman liable for his injury? Since code enforcement allows it there, can I use it there or is it a law that says that I can’t put it in the street, because I did.

It turns out to be beneficial because then no one can park in front of my house. It’s on a public street that is maintained by the city. Do I have to remove it due to insurance reasons? Until someone tells me that I can’t have it in the street I will keep it there, as all of the other neighbors have one in the street.

  1. The City would not be responsible for injuries or damage to your son or the hoop. If you are crazy enough to put your kids in harms way like that you are responsible for their problems.
